'Not quite the same'

True, nowadays I am of an age when they make you pay up front when you order a three-minute egg. But I was young once and wore a uniform and boy, was I proud.

And those throughout the world knew why and I could feel the envy.

We, as a nation, are still up on top, but it is not quite the same. Respect and envy, too, often are lacking.

The most influential person on the planet was put into office because of the clinging quality of little pieces of paper and who says God told him to invade Iraq.

I continue to be proud. But it's not quite the same.
