'Condition of the heart'

Regarding the April 16 [letter] "Lie about anything," I would simply say that Chester M. Monroe needs to calm down a little. If all Mitt Romney is guilty of is saying that he's a hunter, regardless of when or even if he's ever killed anything, then he stands head and shoulders above most of the rest of the lying politicians in Washington.

For one thing, being a hunter has nothing to do with killing animals. Hunters are environmentalists who lay out hard-earned cash to promote wildlife preservation. Hunters recognize the importance of the Second Amendment and support it, along with every citizens' right to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors. The term "hunter" is a condition of the heart and not determined by the number of notches on your rifle. But then most hunters know that already.
