Let the generals and politicians eat field rations

Thank you for the excellent, heart-wrenching article [Vision April 8] on the fine meals ready to eat (MREs) that our heroes in Iraq and Afghanistan are eating and the weight loss some are sustaining due to the nutritional value or lack thereof.

An equally interesting companion article would show a week's sample lunch menu of the House, Senate and Pentagon dining rooms, and the subsidized prices that these "Heroes of Washington" have to pay for these rations.

I think your readers would find them equally heart-wrenching -- or just plain disgusting.
