A chance to make history in her first election

I am a senior in high school who recently turned 18. Now I am an adult. Now I get to vote.

I feel particularly lucky that this election is my first. I have the possibility of electing or neglecting the first female or black candidate who was ever in serious contention for the presidency.

For the past couple of years, my friends and I have discussed the possible candidates and whether we thought there would be contention from anyone other than white males this election. There was skepticism because the possibility has been around so long for this to happen and it never has. Why is now the moment that America has decided to possibly change?

I am thoroughly excited about what will be my first election, and I can't wait to take part in what could very well be this milestone in history. Maybe one day I will tell my grandchildren how I helped elect someone new.
