Roosevelt students prosper in Fresno's art milieu

Roosevelt School of the Arts is grateful for the vibrant arts community in Fresno. Recently our dance students had the opportunity to spend two hours in a Master Class taught by dancers from the Ailey II company, courtesy of Diane Mosier and the Lively Arts Foundation's Discover Dance program.

Last month, Jazz Fresno and The Fresno Arts Council sponsored a concert featuring RSA graduate Gilbert Castellanos and his quintet. The day of the concert, Gilbert and company conducted a clinic at Roosevelt with our Latin Jazz students.

In October, the Fresno Arts Council and Fresno Grand Opera teamed up to bring another RSA grad, Audra McDonald, to perform in Fresno. Audra spent the afternoon talking with our theater arts students about her career.

It is gratifying to know that so many people in the arts community are investing their time and energy to educate and inspire our young people. The arts are alive and well in Fresno!
