With age comes the wisdom that I should have done more to get my body fit and strong when I was young and able. I applaud Sen. Dean Florez's efforts to get this new couch-potato, video-game generation physically active before they are stuck for life with bad habits that will lead to diabetes, heart disease, arthritis -- you name it.
A previous writer said physical education needs to be about more than showing up on time and wearing your uniform, and that is true, too. With Sen. Florez putting a spotlight on this issue, maybe we can finally get to some of those real reforms and get kids up and moving and healthy.
