Stop going for blood

The Valley media have really outdone themselves this time. When did a student's poor judgment become front page and 6 p.m. news? Why is it that a 17- or 18-year-old youth can commit real crimes against society and avoid having their names made public, yet a couple of young students use poor judgment and this becomes front-page news?

It appears rules were broken, but no "law" was violated. A situation that should have been between the school district, the parents and the students has been exploited and used to sell copy. No other student lost an opportunity, no money was involved, no crime committed and no one other than those involved will lose anything. The punishment these fellows will receive by not attending the college they desire and playing soccer should be enough to satisfy those who want "blood."
