'A more healthful life'

I was very impressed upon reading of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's suggestion about lowering our health care costs by practicing a healthful lifestyle.

I have been able to forgo medical care and keep my weight down by eating mostly live foods -- unprocessed foods that have not been frozen or canned. And just taking a 20- to 30-minute fast walk or swim in the morning or evening. Special exercises are included as needed.

My husband smoked from childhood. But upon hearing from his doctor that he had the beginning stages of emphysema, he stopped smoking.

For 15 years thereafter, he was able to continue working in his store and proceed with the projects he loved, which were helping others and making this country a better place to live.

I believe that we, as concerned citizens, can cut medical costs by living a more healthful life and share our knowledge with others.
