Ed Altman (letter Jan. 24) is the one who is missing the point entirely in reference to Jim E. Moore's letter [Jan. 20]. Mr. Moore points out the fact that hippie radicals during the Vietnam War era are hypocrites now because they didn't speak out about the troop escalation during that time. Now they are complaining about President Bush because he is a Republican and not a Democrat like Lyndon B. Johnson.
Mr. Moore's point was very clear. I lived during that time and I remember it also. We call this hypocrisy. Why don't these same people of that era, who are now politicians and have power in Congress, stop the funding of the Iraq war now? Because they want to look good and win big in the next election. This is clearly a double standard.
