Sad tune

We continue with this "war on terrorism," but how will we know when we have won and can finally bring our troops home? Does winning mean freeing Iraq of all terrorists? Does it mean determining an acceptable troop casualty rate? Does it mean one day providing electricity and water for all Iraqi people? Does it mean determining an acceptable amount of corruption in rebuilding the Iraqi infrastructure?

Does it mean determining an acceptable level of insurgents infiltrating Iraqi forces or police? Does it mean accepting a tolerable level of killing between Sunni and Shiite? Or does it mean, as so many believe, that we will have won the war when President Bush tells us we have won?

In the words of Peter, Paul, and Mary, "Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing? Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago? Where have all the soldiers gone? Gone to graveyards, everyone. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?"
