'Persona non grata'

Re Jan Roy's letter [Jan. 18] wondering about proposed warming centers: I expect Clovis to make a decision by July. Yes, there are homeless and poor people in Clovis, but they are persona non grata. The attitude in Clovis is anti-poor, as voiced by the Clovis Chamber of Commerce: "The state minimum wage should not be raised because they will have to pay more for goods and services. Measure C should be defeated because the buses run half empty."

I try to spend my sales tax dollars in Fresno where everybody shares in the tax dollars, not just a few, as in Clovis.

Leona Helmsley is alive and well in Clovis.
