At the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., on the Pacific side of the memorial, is President Franklin D. Roosevelt's speech announcing the attack on Pearl Harbor.
On reading the speech, I discovered the most important part of his speech had been left out, which was "so help us God." I think it was OK to use the word God in those days, so why was it left off ?
