Big-hearted stranger lets son reunite with family

For all those who think there aren't any good-hearted people around, our family wanted to say "thank you" to the anonymous individual who, on Christmas Eve, generously gave up his seat on an airplane bound for Fresno from Dallas, Texas, to our son, PFC Michael Mumby, U.S. Army Military Police.

Michael has been stationed in Diwaneyah, Iraq. He was granted a sudden leave a couple of weeks ago and was trying to surprise us. He left Iraq on Dec. 21, flew for two days through many countries and was able to arrive in time to be with his family at our local parish's Christmas Eve Mass at 5:30 p.m.

Because of this kind gentleman's gift, our son was able to arrive in time to celebrate with his family and friends. We were surprised, shocked and filled with joy and wanted to send a special blessing and say "thank you" to this extremely generous person, whomever he may be.

Rev. David and Mishelle Mumby
