I must say my husband and I were quite disappointed in the lack of "holiday spirit" in the downtown area. Recently, we decided to go and enjoy the holiday lights and decorations on Huntington Boulevard (which was wonderful, I might add). On the way we went through downtown Fresno thinking we might see some lights, wreaths and banners in celebration of the season.
Nothing, except for the usual lights on the Security Bank building, a tree in front of Fresno Community Hospital and a sparse tree in front of the new federal building.
So, I thank Mayor Alan Autry for initiating the beautiful tree and lights in front of City Hall -- it was a real treat to see some indication of holiday spirit in downtown Fresno.
