'A noble sport'

I was a little offended by Larry A. Smith's "Valley Voices" column [Dec. 17], in which he says there's a connection between being cheap and being late to concerts and sporting events. I've never seen a reputable scientific study that backs this up. Show me the data!

Anyway, I think it's generally recognized that searching for free or inexpensive on-street parking is a noble sport, much like chess or backgammon. And, if I have to leave every Fresno Grizzlies game after two hours because my parking meter is expiring (hey, it's $1.20 instead of $5, so don't laugh), it's nobody's business but my own.
