Courtesy sometimes takes a hike in Fresno

I am completely ashamed of where our Valley's courtesy has gone. As a junior at California State University, Fresno, I try my hardest to represent my hometown of Fresno well. However, this is difficult when others in the community are just not courteous to those around them.

A group of my friends, my fiancé, as well as my 2-year-old son and myself, recently went to The Doghouse Grill for dinner -- a restaurant that requires you to find your own seating after ordering your meal.

Following our request for the best tri-tip sandwiches in town, an older woman and her friend cut right in front of us in order to get a table that had just become available. My friend politely informed the two women of the line of people waiting to find seats, and one of the ladies simply said "That's not our problem." These women had the opportunity to be courteous, and they simply blew it off.

All I have to say to that is: Come on Fresno, where are our manners?
