I find myself humbled by the giving spirit of people who live in the San Joaquin Valley. On Dec. 8, the offices of United Cerebral Palsy of Central California were burglarized and a considerable amount of money was stolen from the wonderful students who attend UCP.
This was personal spending money that our students (individuals with disabilities) would use to buy a snack, some coffee, a soft drink or to go to the movies.
Upon hearing of our situation at UCP, people of the Valley responded by opening up their hearts and wallets and giving back, with no thought of recognition for themselves. Whether it is Toys for Tots, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, UCP or other worthy causes, the generosity of the people of the Valley is exceptional. It is one of the many reasons I am proud to call this place my home.
