No double standard

My heart goes out to the family of the officer who was killed in an automobile accident while driving intoxicated. It seems to me it was a senseless tragedy that could have been prevented had the other off-duty officers intervened and not allowed him to drive away after witnessing the number of drinks he had consumed in their presence.

This brings into question whether there is a double-standard for police and other citizens. Another question would be, were these other officers intoxicated and driving? If so, how many lives were endangered by these officers and their negligent behavior?

I would expect that there would be an investigation and possible charges brought against those who neglected to do their civil duty which would have prevented the tragic loss of this young officer and the danger to my family and yours.

I hope this incident is not quietly swept under the rug. A double standard cannot exist while I have children and a wife driving these roads.
