'Where we stand'

I was surprised by the answer of Robert Gates in The Bee [story Dec. 6]. Not because I thought we were winning, but because it seems like someone is finally being honest about the war. I think the most important thing for the American people to know, especially if they have a loved one serving in Iraq, is the honesty of the situation in Iraq.

Although I'm not all for it, I believe that we should at least support those who are serving because the decision had already been made. We are in a war whether anyone likes it or not. The least thing President Bush and his administration can do is to be honest to everyone; we all deserve to know what is going on even if we oppose it. However, thanks to Robert Gates, we now know where we stand in the war as of now.
