'They need the help'

With winter upon us and so many people out on the streets and so many not able to buy winter coats and blankets, why can't the thrift stores and the second-hand stores take a cut and donate these coats and blankets to the needy?

So many people die from the cold, as we saw last year with the elderly. They can't afford the heating bills. Why can't these stores donate some of the blankets, sweaters and warm clothes to them?

It is the almighty dollar, especially around the holidays, that becomes king. You take the $20-$25 coats they sell in the store -- what is so wrong with these stores using this as a write-off at the end of the year? My goodness, someone has to care about these people. They need the help.
