I am a five-year breast cancer survivor. On Oct. 28, I was a participant at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This was the fourth time I attended and every year we have a bigger turnout.
I thank everyone who took the time to come out to show their support for a cause so dear to my heart. I especially want to thank all of the sponsors who are too many to name. We appreciate you so much!
Cancer can be a very lonely disease, but on this one day of the year, I am surrounded by all of the survivors in the pink T-shirts and am reminded that I am one of many. I don't know most of their stories, but believe me, they are brave women. I have survived two reoccurrences, but through the grace of God, a great doctor, a wonderful husband, family and friends, I am still around.
I hope to be there next year. Please, everyone, continue to support the Komen Race, and if you're a company who wants to support something so worthwhile, form a team or be a sponsor!
