Letters to the Editor

Appalling attacks

We are appalled by the ad hominem attacks on Victor Davis Hanson by such writers as Kendall Bartela [letter Nov. 7] and Dorothy Sedley [letter Oct. 30]. To call a person "mean-spirited" and state that he is full of "hatred" does nothing but smear the letter writer without offering an answer. Attacking an opinion, an idea or a plan, not focusing on the writer, is the intellectual approach toward the variegated columnists that regularly appear in The Bee or any newspaper. Stick to the facts; avoid condemning the writer! Fred Emerling, Homer Gee Greene Jr., Fresno
