Save the ER for the patients who really need it

I am writing in response to the recent article about emergency rooms being too crowded and not able to treat its patients. Many people with serious injuries are having trouble getting into the emergency room due to overcrowding.

People who are ill and can't get to the doctor think if they go to the emergency room, they will get help right away. Doing so affects the people with serious injuries, making them wait longer -- and they may not get in at all.

People should not be allowed into the emergency room unless it really is an emergency. Those who are only slightly ill should be patient and wait until their doctor can see them.
