A big difference

Nafez Abo-Elreich [letter Nov. 15] notes that Arabs hate us because we side with Israel. The question now is "Why do we side with Israel?"

Perhaps it's because Israel is the underdog, and Americans traditionally root for the underdog. It might be that, to date, no Israeli terrorist squad has murdered an Arab Olympic team, or danced in delight after throwing an Arab invalid, confined to a wheelchair, off the deck of a hijacked cruise ship, or beat, mutilated and murdered a young American sailor whom they found aboard an airliner they hijacked.

Maybe it's because young Israeli men and women do not blow themselves up at Arab weddings, taking scores of innocent Arabs to their deaths.

And finally, it might be because Israelis don't teach their children to hate before they can even walk.
