Misplaced blame

I was amazed at the multiple letters blaming school officials after the tragic and senseless death of the 13-year-old Ahwahnee Middle School student. Maybe the community should blame the school district for teen pregnancy, joyriding and bicycling without a helmet. Where were values, discipline and love?

The sad truth is that a violent act took place and apparently only one passer-by stopped to help while the kids walked away. All the children present, including the 14-year-old now accused of involuntary manslaughter, should be required to visit the coroner's office. There, they can view autopsies and touch corpses and possibly come to realize that in death there is only cold, dark silence.
