I was flipping channels recently when I came upon a PBS show about chimpanzees. I learned about chimps who had been locked in cages, alone, for more than 20 years, and chimps used for drug testing who bit off their own fingers after biopsies.
It was one of the saddest things I have ever seen and I was saddened again when I saw your advertisement for your career section with the chimpanzee. I hope you won't print that ad anymore; less demand, less abused chimps.
And anyone who hasn't seen it, should watch the PBS show if it's on again. The last scene is riveting: A chimp who had been locked up for 30 years was finally released to an island sanctuary. He quickly found the tallest tree and climbed to the top. You could almost hear him exhale.
