Chimpanzees have been 'shamefully exploited'

Your full-page ad for FresnoBee.com/jobs featuring a chimpanzee dressed in human clothes holding a cup of coffee and apparently saying "I can undo the work of 10 men" is catchy, but no doubt "offensive" to some chimps.

Their DNA is 98% the same as ours. And they definitely are not "monkeys" but instead apes, sharing a common ancestor with us some 6 million years ago.

Chimps have been shamefully exploited in medical labs and early space travel. A PBS Nature program at 8 p.m. this Sunday evening is entitled "Chimpanzees: An Unnatural History" and profiles the individuals working hard to give these long-suffering creatures freedom and sanctuary.
