Two weeks from Election Day, The Bee ran a large front-page article, with two large color photos, on one candidate in a very important race for our city -- the one The Bee recommended. What's wrong with this picture? It's favoritism -- promoting one candidate over another -- not fair reporting.
Perhaps The Bee wanted to write about the Hmong community's activism. Well, timing is everything. And a picture is worth a thousand words.
The Chamber of Commerce's political action committee believes this was a serious misstep. Scott Miller, the other candidate in District 1, should receive the same coverage. We endorsed Scott Miller because he knows what it's like to invest his life savings in a small business and grow it. That leadership is more than talking. He has a written plan, is focused on reducing crime and knows jobs are key to solving many of Fresno's problems.
Before deciding to run, Scott worked hard for District 1. He is past president of the Tower Marketing Committee, owns two businesses in the district and has lived there most of his life. Scott will bring common sense to the council, demonstrating thoughtful consideration of the issues affecting his district and our city.
