Construction sites aren't drag strips: Be safe

I am writing in regard to "Pickup rams into 2 workers (story Oct. 18). I have personally witnessed many a car rushing through construction sites without a thought to workers and clearly ignoring posted signs asking us to reduce our speed.

The fog season is just around the corner, and I would like to encourage everyone to join me in ensuring these workers make it home safe.

These construction workers are someone's son, father or husband. These tragedies can be prevented. Five minutes is nothing compared to a lifetime of heartache.

At a construction site, please put down the phones, reduce speed and be aware of the surroundings. The families of these workers will thank you.
