Measure C provides money in several ways that could be beneficial for air quality. Improving public transit services, taking the oldest diesel school buses and replacing them with cleaner burning buses that have seat belts. There is money for rail and grade separations which would reduce automobile emissions as cars wait for trains to pass and my favorite -- new pedestrian trails and bikeways around the county.
While improving our highways to relieve congestion is one way to improve the air quality, it is by no means the only way. We have to think of our community as a whole and vote "yes" on Measure C because it makes sense.
