Knotty question

As the mayor of a city as charming and sophisticated as Fresno, why is it that Alan Autry never seems to wear a necktie?

When the governor came to town the other day, almost everyone among the VIPs was wearing a necktie except for the mayor, who looked like somebody who had just come in from milking a cow or toting a bale. And it was not the first time.

What's his problem with neckties? Can't he find one that fits? Is he unable to tie one? Or is it just that he doesn't have any? In that case, maybe we who have more ties than we will ever tie can send him a few, a foulard, bow, clip-on, what have you.

A mayor should be tied to be fit.
