'Relevant stories'

So Vice President Dick Cheney misspeaks about torture (story Oct. 18). Sen. John Kerry messes up a punch line (story Nov. 1). What news did Sen. Kerry beat out on Nov. 1?

I didn't see any mention of the 103 soldiers who died in Iraq in the month of October on the front page, nor a follow-up to the deadly blaze in Southern California where local firemen were fighting and where a man was arrested for setting the blaze.

I'm not advocating to put Vice President Cheney's misspeak on the front page. I'm begging that the media leave tabloid fodder of flubs and misstatements in the back of the paper where it belongs, and let us see relevant stories on the front page.
