Once again, a puppy has been found in the trash. I don’t have to ask what kind of person can do this, I know. Every day animals are abused by despicable people. Animal cruelty laws aren’t tough enough. All one has to do is look on the internet to realize the extent of the cruelty inflicted on helpless animals.
Overpopulation is a huge problem in Fresno. Animals are killed every year due to the birth of unwanted pets. This is our failure. There should be more centers to help low-income families care for their pets. Vets throughout the county could sponsor clinics to help with a spay-and-neuter program.
I pay enough for the care of my (rescued) pets that I know they can afford to do this. Programs like this would go a long way to help eliminate the problem.
I thank the volunteers who give their time, love and their money to make things better, but it must be a community effort.
