The exaggerated, over-dramatic fears that Ethan Kytle and Blain Roberts write about in their column on Dec. 4 exemplify the kind of tripe that attempts to pass for legitimacy.
I would ask these two who Syed Rizwan Farook’s and Tashfeen Malik’s president was. They are the killers who took 14 lives and wounded 22 in San Bernardino. Who was Omar Mateen’s president? He was the killer of 49 and wounding of 53 in Orlando, Florida.
The writers raise the issue of the Ku Klux Klan, and with factual support, default to equating Donald Trump with David Duke. They should know that the KKK thrived under the Democrats. Democrats resisted the gains of Reconstruction, and with the theory of white supremacy guiding them, and victories in state legislatures during the 1870s, they owned the Klan.
Who was the illustrious Robert Byrd’s president or Al Gore Sr.’s president? To those Democrats who voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, who was their president?
And to those students at Fresno State who have fears of a Trump presidency, relax. Ask yourselves if you are or planning to be in violation of the law of this sovereign nation of borders and laws. If the answer is negative to both, you’re fine.
