I live in the University Park area. The majestic trees in the medians down Saginaw Way and Angus Street are dying. There are similar tree-lined medians on Van Ness Boulevard in the Tower District, which is Fresno City Council member Esmeralda Soria’s district. There are other such medians in other council members’ districts.
The tree-lined medians in other council members’ districts are lush and green because drip irrigation/xeriscape was installed to preserve them. Meanwhile, Fresno City Councilman Clint Olivier has allowed these once beautiful majestic trees to decay and die. They are now a hazard, as the tree limbs are dying and people who felt safe walking in our once beautiful neighborhood fear the dying limbs might break and fall on them.
People in our neighborhood have pleaded with Olivier for over a year, but no action has been taken and the trees continue to die. With so little green space in Fresno, the park-like setting on Angus and Saginaw should be preserved, as they have been in in other areas in Fresno.
This was a neighborhood where people walked their dogs and enjoyed the lovely scenery. I regret walking in our district and placing a yard sign in our neighborhood in support of Olivier.
