Warm temperatures rising to the mid-90s are expected through the week in the central San Joaquin Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
Today's high in the Fresno area is expected to be 97, followed by an overnight low of 65.
The weather service attributes the temperatures to a high-pressure front over the Valley that may begin to break up by the weekend.
There also was a chance of thunderstorms Monday over the Sierra Nevada.
