44% of illegal immigrants in 2008 were estimated to have entered the United States in 2000 or later.

56% of Mexicans believe that giving legal status to illegal immigrants already in the U.S. would encourage more people they know to go to the United States illegally.

36% of Mexicans say they would move to the United States if they could.

42% of illegal immigrants say they expect to remain in the United States for “as long as I can.” Another 17% said “for the rest of my life.” Meanwhile, 27% said for five years or less.

79% of those who indicated they were illegal immigrants said they would participate in a guest-worker program.
