Allen O. Clyde, a Fresno County Office of Education board member who announced earlier that he intended to run for Fresno County Supervisor Debbie Poochigian’s seat in November, said Tuesday he is dropping out of the race.
Instead, Clyde said, he will run for a fifth term on the Fresno County Office of Education on the November ballot. From 1987 to 1991, he served as a trustee for Clovis Unified School District.
Clyde has a podiatry practice in Clovis. He also is a rancher near Tollhouse and operates Clyde Pack Outfitters at Dinkey Creek, Wishon Reservoir and Courtright Reservoir.
“I enjoy medicine and my board of education seat, and I’m not ready to leave either one,” he said. “Down the road, it may be a different story.”

Clyde said he is now setting up his committee for re-election to the county school board.
His departure from the race leaves Clovis City Council Member Nathan Magsig and agriculture executive and businessman Alex Ott as the two candidates vying to replace Poochigian.
