Joaquin Arambula officially kicked off his campaign for the 31st Assembly District on Saturday – two months ahead of the April 5 special election to replace former Assembly Member Henry T. Perea, D-Fresno, who resigned in December.
Arambula had several guest speakers on hand at Calwa Park who officially endorsed him as a candidate.
Congressman Jim Costa, D-Fresno, Fresno City Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria and Antonio Villaraigosa, former Los Angeles mayor and gubernatorial candidate, were all in attendance to speak and show support for Arambula.
Arambula biggest rival for the spot so far is Fresno City Councilman Clint Olivier.
