Rep. David Valadao has endorsed Jeb Bush for president, giving the former Florida governor his second central San Joaquin Valley congressional endorsement.

America needs strong leadership now more than ever. Governor Bush has the executive experience and civility to lead the country. I am proud to support Governor Bush for President.

Rep. David Valadao, R-Hanford

“America needs strong leadership now more than ever,” Valadao said in a statement. “Governor Bush has the executive experience and civility to lead the country. I am proud to support Governor Bush for President.”

Valadao, a Hanford Republican, has some political common ground with Bush on their more moderate approach to immigration reform. In addition, Bush is liked by a good chunk of the region’s agricultural sector.

In late August, Rep. Jeff Denham, a Turlock Republican, also endorsed Bush. Both Valadao and Denham represent agriculture-heavy districts. And Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin has endorsed Bush as well.

Bush was initially dubbed the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, but he has struggled to get his campaign on solid footing. Still, he has the most money and the most endorsements.

Locally, hard-core conservatives don’t much like Bush, but he’s popular among more mainstream sectors of the Republican Party, including moderate Hispanic GOP business owners.
