The 10 Republican participants have been chosen, and the first GOP debate of the election season is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

In Fresno County, both political parties are ready as well, with debate watching parties scheduled.

Republicans are hosting a free viewing party at Guris Grubhouse & Taps, 1713 E. Shaw Ave. in Fresno. There will be a no-host bar and appetizers, as well as pre- and post-debate straw polls.

Local Republicans also have parties scheduled for the Sept. 16, Oct. 28 and Dec. 15 debates. The September debate will be held at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley.

And, as is often the case, rival Democrats will also gather to watch the Republicans do battle on the debate stage.

The Democrats will gather at the Fresno County Democratic Party headquarters, 1035 U Street. All Democrats are invited. Call (559) 495-0606 for questions.

Both Republican and Democratic debate watching parties start at 5:30 p.m.
