Papers pulled by third candidate for Fresno County supervisors’ seat

Allen O. Clyde, a podiatrist, rancher and business owner, has taken out papers to to campaign for the 5th District supervisorial seat being vacated by Debbie Poochigian at the end of this year.

Clyde, who also serves as a Fresno County Office of Education school board member and is a former Clovis Unified School District trustee, joins Clovis City Council Member Nathan Magsig and agriculture committee executive and business owner Alex Ott as those who have pulled their papers to get signatures in-lieu of paying a filing fee.

Former Marjaree Mason Center executive director Pamela Kallsen also said this week that she may have interest in campaigning for the primarily Clovis, Sunnyside and eastern Fresno County seat. She was with the Marjaree Mason Center for 10 years before retiring in 2013.

Prior to that, Kallsen, 64, served as chief of staff to the chief executive officer for Valley Medical Center when it transitioned from a county-run hospital to Community Regional Medical Center. She now serves on the Clovis Planning Commission.

Others saying they would consider running for the 5th District seat include former District Attorney Elizabeth Egan, Clovis City Council Member Lynne Ashbeck and lawyer and former Sanger Mayor Mark D. Johnson.
