Clovis Unified bus drivers learn to handle students with guns

School bus drivers in Clovis participated in a training session to learn to handle active shooter situations on Thursday, the Clovis Unified School District said.

Gun threats and violence is becoming increasingly more common, so the bus drivers learned techniques to disarm gun-wielding assailants, Clovis Unified said.

APEX Safety Curriculum Fundamentals is a Reno-based company that travels throughout the United States offering similar events. They use law enforcement techniques to train a variety of organizations on how to handle these frightening situations, Clovis Unified said. The instruction included highly visual hands-on training sessions from former police officers.
