Clovis students recognized for helping Fresno school

A group of Reagan Elementary students were recognized by the Fresno County Office of Education on Thursday for their campaign to supply Sequoia Middle School in southeast Fresno with athletic equipment.

The students, members of the Super Slimy Gummy Luchador Explorers Destination Imagination team, participated in the Project Outreach challenge, which asks to students to identify and address a significant need in their community. They learned that some students at Sequoia could not afford cleats.

The team researched possible solutions and learned that some schools set up closets filled with donated cleats and athletic supplies that students could borrow from.

The Reagan students, with the help of 940 ESPN radio and the Fresno State Athletic Department, collected more than 150 sets of cleats, shoes and other athletic materials to Sequoia.
