An Avenal woman believed to have embezzled at least $10,000 from the Reef-Sunset Unified School District was arrested Wednesday by the Kings County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's officials said the 40-year-old woman had been cashing checks made out to students who had worked part-time for the school district. She also made up time cards for fake employees and cashed the checks.
The woman was arrested and charged with embezzlement, fraud, forgery, grand theft and identity theft.
