Fresno Co. schools make finals of fitness challenge

Twelve Fresno County schools are finalists in the Governor's Challenge Competition.

The contest promotes increased physical activity and better nutrition among California youths. Finalists were selected out of 2,649 participating schools based on the percentage and number of students in the school who successfully completed the Governor's Challenge of being active 30 to 60 minutes a day, at least three days a week for a month.

Of the 127 finalists, 12 are from Fresno County. They are:

Bullard Talent Project, Fresno; Clovis North High, Fresno; Del Rey Elementary, Del Rey; Dunlap Elementary, Dunlap; Fairmount Elementary, Sanger; Firebaugh Middle, Firebaugh; Granite Ridge Intermediate, Fresno; Jackson Elementary, Sanger; John S. Wash Elementary, Fresno; Lincoln Elementary, Sanger; Lone Star Elementary, Sanger; Ronald W. Reagan Elementary, Sanger.
