The Madera Unified School District and the Madera Unified Teachers Association reached an agreement Thursday for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years.
Under the agreement, teachers association unit members will take a six-day furlough for the next two school years.
The total estimated savings from the agreement is $1,915,800, which will be applied toward reducing unit-member layoffs and class-size increases, according to a news release from the school district.
Layoff notices will be reversed for a minimum of 40 specific unit members and others as funds allow.
