Phillip V. Sánchez, a former Fresno County chief administrative officer who also once served as ambassador to Honduras and Colombia, will be honored as the 2010 Chicano Alumni Legacy Builder at Fresno State.
The chapter of the Fresno State Alumni Association gives the award to someone who made significant contributions to the Chicano experience at Fresno State, said Frances Peña-Olgin, president of the Chicano Alumni.
Sánchez is a Fresno State alumnus -- earning both bachelor's and master's degrees in political science.
The Legacy Builder reception is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Smittcamp Alumni House. Admission is $10, with proceeds benefiting Chicano Alumni Scholarships. Parking is free.
