Civic education event at Fresno Convention Center

Fresno State's 26th annual Conference on Character and Civic Education on Friday will feature workshops, awards to exemplary local schools and an internationally known speaker.

The conference provides hundreds of prospective teachers with information on local civic agencies devoted to assisting children and families with life issues. It also presents them with ethical issues facing today's teachers and professionally appropriate ways of dealing with those issues.

Dr. Nel Noddings, emerita professor of education at Stanford University, is the event's keynote speaker.

The conference will be at the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
