Nearly 600 students will compete in the 57th annual Central California Regional Science, Mathematics and Engineering Fair from Monday through Thursday.
The students -- in grades 6 through 12 -- will display 450 projects in the Fresno County Fairgrounds Commerce Building.
First-place winners in grades 6, 7 and 8 are eligible to advance to the California State Science Fair in Los Angeles in May.
The top two individual winners and one team project from the senior division will represent the Fresno area at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, also in May.
